I know the D40x ONLY can use the AF-S & AF-I lens. What about the D80, can it use more lens? I am looking the one can use most of the Nikon lens.
From http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/NikonD40X/page2.asp
Type G or D AF Nikkor
• AF-S, AF-I – All functions supported
• Other Type G or D AF Nikkor – All functions supported except autofocus
• PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D – Can only be used in mode M; all other functions supported except autofocus
• Other AF Nikkor*2/AI-P Nikkor – All functions supported except autofocus and 3D Color Matrix Metering II
• Non-CPU – Can be used in mode M, but exposure meter does not function; electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or faster
• IX Nikkor – Can not be used
And http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/NikonD80/page2.asp
• DX Nikkor : All functions supported
• Type G or D AF Nikkor : All functions supported
• Micro Nikkor 85 mm F2.8D : All functions supported except autofocus and some exposure modes
• Other AF Nikkor*2 : All functions supported except 3D color matrix metering, i-TTL balanced fill-fl ash for digital SLR
• Non-CPU : Can be used in exposure mode M, but exposure meter does not function; electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or faster
*1 IX Nikkor lenses can not be used
*2 Excluding lenses for F3AF
So basically the D80 have better compatibility compared to the D40x, but you can use lenses other than AF-S and AF-I with the D40x, except that you cannot use autofocus with it.
