I borrowed a Nikon D80 from my friend. I was messing around, taking pictures, and accidently pressed some buttons. Which, I do not know. Now, I can’t get the main LCD to turn on. I press playback, and nothing happens. (Once or twice it has turned on for just a second, then flickered back off.) I tried holding down the two buttons that reset it, but I don’t think it did anything. The camera is low on battery but not dead.
Please help and tell me what I did! Thank you!!!
At first I was able to take pictures, but now I can’t even do that… is it just the battery? I hope………
No, I only borrowed the camera for tonight for my niece’s birthday party. So no charger
Thanks for answering.
It might just be the battery. My D70 starts getting stubborn when the battery is low. Good luck!
Oh yes, can you borrow their battery charger too? That would let you know if it’s the battery in a pretty short time.

I recently bought a Nikon D80. It shows me how many pictures I can fit on my card in the top display and it shows [-E-] if there is no card. The problem is, it does this anytime there is a battery in the camera even when it is off. This takes very little power but I fear that the display might wear out (have seen similar displays go bad in the past). Is there a way to set this not to display this when the camera is off or do I just have to remove the battery?
It is not the battery power that I am really worried about, it is the life of the pannel. I don’t want the display to wear out and have missing blocks.
Your display won’t be worn out (I’m trusting Nikon uses a decent quality display). Displays die because of physical damage, bad drive waveforms (over voltage and something other than 50% duty cycle drive), and poor construction. I’m guessing that the displays you saw go bad didn’t have a protective shield over the display and/or was on a crappy product which used the cheapest display they could dig up (common on most consumer junk you get from Walmart). Those sorts of displays would have gone bad sitting around doing nothing. I’ve seen good LCD displays last over 15 years of continuous use on home products.
My unboxing of the Zeikos battery grip for the Nikon D80/D90. Thank you for watching.

Idunno, the camera is worth a bit less than $500 and a good deal of the stuff they are "throwing in" came in the OEM box with the camera. I’m not exactly sure how they are adding an "extra hot shoe" given that the hot shoe is buit into the camera body. Still, the remote switch, 50-200mm lens, extra battery, battery grip and LowePro bag combined might be worth the extra $300. In any case, I’d strongly recommend handling a similar camera before buying this one.
In this video I show you how to install the Nikon MB-d80 Battery grip onto a Nikon D90.

Hello everybody
I just got a Nikon d80 and when i turn it off
it still shows how many photos are left on the top screen
it doesn’t show anything else, just how many photos
Is this normal, isn’t it wasting battery
Thanks so much ![]()
It is not wasting energy at all.
The number on the LCD shows how many more images you can shoot before you need to put another card in your camera or [ E ] if your card slot is empty.
